Variable Zhukov

Post by MagicMissile »

Is it correct that Zhukov arrives with the Moscov Military District in November 1941? I assume that is how it works.

I don´t know enough of the game and I don´t think we have enough data yet to know if Sovietunion need a boost or not. But given the fact that the Axis will never launch a so late Barbarossa as June 22 they will come in May or even earlier in March as in my game vs Tyrone. I am thinking if one wants to help the Soviets a little bit maybe this suggestion could be a small help.

My suggestion is that Zhukov should not arrive on a fixed date but should arrive X number of turns after the war with Germany starts or at the latest November 1. Or maybe no at the latest at all then it works both ways so a 1942 Barbarossa he would arrive late 1942.

I don´t know how hard that would be to code or how long it would take. Just an idea to consider [:)].

Maybe a point on the map or a casualty number should activate Stalin's Paranoid Mind and shake him from his boots to call in the General?

As long as German Generals are similarly hauled over the coals by a delusional Hitler ...

Or are we only interested in benefiting the Germans?

Too micro, too chrome. Do we really need a generalship minigame on top of everything else?

Leave well enough alone.

I could just as easily argue that the Soviets should have STAVKA on the reinforcement queue with Zhukov in it as of May 1941. He was chief of the Soviet general staff at that point. And shuttling Zhukov to this or that crisis point on the Eastern Front was not something that happened on December 6, it was going on from day one. First, to SW Front, where he help organize counterattacks on AGS and slow it down. Then Reserve Front and the attacks on Yelnya. Then Leningrad. And, finally, Moscow.

So if you want to open up this can of worms, I'm going to lobby for an early and historical Zhukov doing what he actually did.

Oh I don´t argue about that. He probably should be around on day one, but since he isn´t I thought as a slight buff to the Soviet a earlier arrival on a earlier Barbarossa could be a good thing. But yes it is a minor thing probably bigger things to tackle first for sure.

I agree with the original suggestion - keep it as reinforcement alongside the Siberians - but tune their arrival X turns after German's declaration of war.
As it is now Germany has all the gain from an 'early' DoW (Which should be an option) due to the fact they start to repair earlier the rails!
