Fulda, North Plains, or Danube ?

Post by nukkxx5058 »

Can't decide by myself. Which JTS Modern Campaign do you recommend among these 3 cold war JTS titles?

- Fulda Gap
- North German Plains
- Danube Front

And why ? :-)

Ease to find PBEM opponents is a plus

Thanks

Just one more question: which one is the latest release among the 3 ? I never see the release date on JTS site ...

What wars are those titles about?
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

What wars are those titles about?
1985 Hypothetical Warsaw Pact invading Western Europe (defended by NATO).
What if Cold War went hot ?

Jon Tillers Danube Front is great. Insane map from Denmark through Germany to the Alps in Austria.

And the whole Warsaw Pact against the Nato contingent in Europe and the complete Western German Army.

A real time waster.

Then it sounds like no fun. [;)]

Thinking outside the box, have you looked at other 'modern NATO-PACT' sims like Armored Brigade, Steel Beasts
or Flashpoint Campaigns Red Storm/Germany Reforged.
The later (Flashpoint Campaigns) is IMO a fantastic sim,
game scale is 500m per hex with Platoon / Company manouver units.
captures the 'flavour' really well.

Hi,for me real time is normally a no-go so no armored brigade for me (the excpetion to this rule being a hard core simulator like CMANO). Otherwise Flashpoint is a GREAT soft. I really love it since the begining (FP Germany back many years ago) and I'm definitely waiting for southern storm.
But JTS is definitely my greatest discovery of the year ! Having so much fun at Waterloo as the Emperor !
So Danube seems the prefect choice so far.

Combat Mission Shock Force 2, and Black Sea are also great. You can use the turn base instead of real time by the way.

Funny how you could have avoided giving John Tiller all your money all of these years, nukkxx5058! I haven't had that problem, but am happy for it. I do know that a number of people got familiar with the company during the sale. A great move on JTS' part.

How I missed the JTS series is a mystery. The universe is vast and complex. And full of mysteries... [&:] [&:][&:]

Beware that’s your collector bone speaking, the part of you that isn’t satisfied until you have all titles.

Be warned. I have 44 JTS on my hard drive. Obviously I'm a huge fan and have been for many years. There is a great
app that keeps all the games together. The support is amazing. Pick a period in history and enjoy !!! Also there
is a great mod community out there.
Cheers, Jim

Just a quick question : is it me or there's no campaign mode in Danube ?
I can see how to load battles but no full dynamic campaign.
Did I miss something ?
Thx.
