Italy remaining neutral with denuded French border

Groan, another bug.

Apparently this note below has no significance whatsoever. 39 Scenario, latest official patch. My opponent has left the French/Italian border vacant and Italy remains neutral. Didn't anyone ever test this?

Italy has to declare war. Are you able to declare war? It isn't automatic.

And it has triggered in games I have played. Again, not an automatic DoW. Player has to take an action.

I checked the War Panel. There is no option to declare war.

I just ran the test again. Italy can declare war if Algiers is left vacant. But the French can totally abandon the border hexes with Italy and nothing is triggered.

Got it...sounds like you have it pinpointed.

No this mechanism is working correctly for the Alps. Just because the French move a unit around and it isn't exactly on the border doesn't mean Italy goes Axis. They need to remove the units from the front and leave it open. I didn't want to be so precise where French player accidentally moves 1 unit 1 hex and the moose is loose!

It worked properly for me in a game a couple of months ago. Haven't tested since.

Well I would say please correct the scenario notes to reflect what the rule actually is. Because according to the notes if any hex on the border is left empty of French land units.

So now I have to waste more time to actually figure out what the rule really is.

So for anyone interested, the actual trigger is if any non Alpine hex does not have a French ground unit within a 3 hex radius.

So all you need do is leave one division in the middle non alpine hex and you can keep the Italian's out (as of official 1.05)

I corrected the scripts. Now exactly each single hex on the border if left empty will trigger Italy in the 1939 and 1940 scenarios.
