Target combat advisor

Post by Centuur »

Out of the manual:

The Target Combat Advisor gets activated by user first selecting the
German Flame Thrower using the Left mouse button and then licking
on the middle mouse button (while the Flame Thrower is selected) on
the Russian hex [4,7].

I don't have a middle mouse button. Is there another way to open this advisor using the key board?

There are no short keys assigned to the Target Combat Advisor. This would have to be emulated through other software depending on your PC specs and windows version.

I don't know what you mean by emulating things using other software and windows. I'm a real nobody where computers are concerned.

You could use AutoHotKey if you are using a two button mouse. Scroll down a bit on this link and there will be a howto for using AutoHotKey

It might be simpler to just buy a cheap 3-button mouse.[;)]

Sure. However, a 3-button mouse isn't compatible with all software on my lap top (and I found that out the hard way). My 19-year old son (who knows a lot more about computers than I do) had to reinstall several softwarepackages on my laptop to get things right again.
So a 3-button mouse is out of the question...

Centuur, I hope you resolved your mouse issue but if you
didn't the game is still playable. In fact, when TotH first
came out it didn't have that Target Advisor. I almost never
use it because it's not too realistic. Combatants typically
make chances of success calculations on the fly not using a
calculator for determining potential outcome. Also, after
4 years of playing TotH I can tell you that the most improbable
results do happen and I would have missed out on that If I
stuck to making only highly probable successful shots.[:)]

Sometimes, when you have a choice, it's nice to have this available. And being an old Squad Leader player, I'm very happy with TotH. Haven't had enough time to really get into things yet, but I've already spend a nice sunday reading and looking to get familiar with the game itself.

For me, it's very nice to see that the two best wargames ever made have made it to the computer. First World in Flames and now Squad Leader.
