Not sure when to buy

Warplan is a World War 2 simulation engine. It is a balance of realism and playability incorporating the best from 50 years of World War 2 board wargaming.

Not sure when to buy

Post by sillyflower »

I applaud devs who who work hard to improve the game post-launch [&o]. I always think of launch as an extended beta because all games need to be improved, and the worthwhile games always are. Not a criticism of devs but as games get more complex, pre-launch testing can never be enough.

However a downside, at least in the early days, is that frequent updates can mess-up ongoing PvP games
With that in mind, is this game stable enough for this not to be a real problem? I hope so because both of the miniature wargaming clubs I belong to have, very sensibly, shut down for the duration.

Responses from those who play PvP most welcome

The next official patch is scheduled end of this week. It is a huge patch. It is already available as a beta patch too.

New bugs are hardly being reported anymore so this 1.06 patch is a very stable one. I think starting PvP games with 1.06 should be perfectly fine.

So, now is a good time to buy; the game has matured greatly. It is great fun. No regrets.

The word is spreading about WarPlan. I got more sales in January then I did in December. I should have less. So I am quite pleased. Not a lot more but more than I expected.

I'm satisified with the AI in the latest Strategic Command games. This game has had a few patches so I'd appreciate some opinions on whether the current AI is about equal to the AI in the Strategic Command games.
Thanks.

Alvaro you must be the only developer who comments on his sales, without giving figures of course, it is something I appreciate and I am glad it is going well for you.

When I made the game I thought it's trajectory would be more flat. It doesn't have the best graphics. Lack of immersion on the surface as 2 large wargaming reviews have put it. But I suspected its growth would come after this initial phase. Already I have have been several Soviet defense strategies. Players trying different approaches. I counted in this game going by word of mouth on its depth of strategy. So far so good.

Even I am still discovering new ways to do things.

Some games give players the world and no cap on their exploration of things to do.

I give the nitty gritty cap and let you figure out how to best use it. And even so this strategy is not the best strategy vs a different opponent. I play a lot of poker and have studied the game intensely for more than a decade. A lot of how poker plays went into WarPlan.

Good to hear that sales are increasing.

This game is showing signs of becoming a classic. Well deserved too.
The player created mods have also added to that development
