Suggestion: Shipyard upkeep for repairing boats

My fleet was damaged on purpose to see if there is any usage of shipyard to repair a fleet. And, in the current implementation, it seems there is not. Thus, here is a suggestion for improvement, especially for the Pacific.

Repairing an aircraft carrier, or another boat, needs a shipyard and maybe should delay other tasks like impacting the construction time of few other boats in the deployment window if there is not enough shipyard available.

Something like an upkeep for shipyard like for the production upkeep or manpower upkeep to repair units.

It is a good idea but that creates a level of micromanagement I don't want to impose on players. That is how it was in the original version.

In the next version I am actually reducing the cost to repair ships.

It is frustrating when one orders build several landing ships and some escorts only to find out on the next turn that there are "not enough shipyards" to build those merchant marines which you are short on.
Is there an easy way of telling how many shipyards were put to use to aid planning or is the information there already -- on the production screen??
If there is that indicator, can it alert me that the "ship yards are now available," rather than me forgetting three or six turns, not knowing shipyards have become available?

The production screen tells you how many shipyards you have left on the upper right panel under stockpile

Good idea. +1
Makes totally sense to use shipyards to repair ships.
I do not think, that it is to much micromanagement.

No, repairs are quick and cannot wait for years until your BBs or CVs are done building.
