question on PBEM mechanics

Post by Dalwin »

I am on the fence to purchase this today before the sale ends. As I play most of these games PBEM it is important to me how the game handles this. The PBEM++ system used by Strategic Command is ideal. End your turn and it gets uploaded to the server where the opponent will then hit play on his turn.

Is it similar to that or is it an older system whereby there is an actual file that the players have to pass back and forth via email or file transfer of some other type?

Same mechanism for Warplan. When a turn is ready, I receive an email. By clicking on a button to play my turn, it is then uploaded on a server when I finish my turn.

OK I just found the link to the manual. According to that it is the same system used for Strategic Command. Now it only remains to convince the wife that this is an essential purchase. ;)

This reminds me of an advert I saw online ages ago -

An American was selling his motorbike because 'Apparently my wife saying "you can buy whatever you f#cking like" did not mean what I thought it meant'

May this example aid your decision-making if Mrs Dalwin has an opinion on the matter [:D]

It was of course a joke as much as anything and I do now own the game.
