Sonar issue

Post by nudn1k »

This happend in NF 34 The longest Battle DB3000 v470.

Seahorse (Sturgeon) is chasing that Goblin for hours now and can track it even from across the layer but can never classify or Id the contact.
Goblin is an argentinian Salta (Type 209). Database shows her LF Rear noise as 67 dB.
Things get worse when both merge, if the Seahorse moves out of the Saltas baffles she is detected right away and the Salta can classify her contact as SSN in minutes.
The Salta is then circling around (practically chrashing into) the Seahorse but can't get it ID'ed.

However, while chasing that contact another Sturgeon was able to detect and indentify a biological contact (LF Rear 82 dB) in 8 min at a distance of 30nm.
Is that correct, can someone confirm? Scenario file in next post.

N.
