Can you change the type that an air unit uses? I would like to make a bomber air unit use fighters instead, but if I want to change I can only change to another type of bomber/dive bomber.

What's the reason behind this? Any unit should be able to fly any type of aircraft but a result of the change there would have to be a period of adjustment and experience/readiness loss.

Any thoughts?
I didn't know it then, but looking back, in hindsight, I realize that when I was younger I could see into the future. Now I'm getting all my premonitions as flashbacks!

No, generally you can't. The only way I know of for that to happen is like this: in '43 the German Ju87D squadrons get upgraded automatically to FW190F, if there are enough in the pool. Then you can change them to other fighter types, but you're stuck with fighters.
