Pe-3 on day missions

I put my Pe-3 squadrons on day missions, thinking that they would make good escort fighters for twin-engine bomber strikes behind enemy lines. I'm noticing that they never commit to missions, even if you select the airbase they are on. Is this intentional? Can "night fighters" never fly in daytime?

You need to switch to night mode，night fighters are worthy of the name only can fly them at night,unless you set them up for daytime activities.

I set them to day mode but they're still not activating.

That sounds incredible，they should be able to activitie as well as other daylight fighters.
