Suggestion to be added in the map editor
I have been working too much with the map editor lately I have would like to see these options.
First a selection box where I can select several objects and change in all them, by example, their scale.
Second. We can paint a new map with the default textures for the terrain elements, pavement, field, dirt and more. It would be great if we would be able paint with these textures our customized background image.
These are my two suggestions. They would help a lot with the capabilities from the map editor.

I'm not sure I understand the second request. Surely you would just paint the map in the editor, then export and continue editing. That would give you the base textures as your initial custom texture.

It would be better if you would be able to paint with the map editor in your customized texture. If you must start the map in the editor, you can not follow a previous design.
At least it could be made with layer system. One layer for the normal map editor where you can paint and under it the texture loaded, just as example which you can follow.

Ahhh. I think I understand. So you can have a guide texture to draw over? I will add to the wishlist.

RE: Suggestion to be added in the map editor
One curious thing. I have discovered by accident how the autosave record the map painted elements, dirt, pavement, open ground and more. When you load the autosave with the map editor, it does not load the map texture (perhaps because it is in other folder) and it loads the map painted with the map editor default textures. It can be useful creating parts from a old map, in fact, it can be very useful because I can paint the map easily without lose too time in photoshop, it is very similar to my suggestion, very similar.[:)]

You can hold down the END key to show the map in it's standard tile rendering form, or toggle with SHIFT+0 or +9 for tile type rendering, if that helps.

Thanks by the tips. They help. I discovered another very useful key, start key hide the objects, it is very useful if you want paint in the place of them without remove them or move, if you move them, you are painting at the same time.[8|]ORIGINAL: PipFromSlitherine

Another point, the unique way for to save the painted texture over the old map is if you press the key end, it will save the texture that you see in the map editor. Of course, it will save it with a lower resolution, solution? a program as Topaz Gigapixel AI, it can increase images without lose quality. I will save all these discovers in my faq. It can be useful in some situations but by the moment, I prefer my pavement model option hidding old painted buildings. It is a lot faster.

RE: Suggestion to be added in the map editor
After several maps, the map editor has these problems.
-Paint terrain should require a special key because it is very easy paint terrain when you are moving a object or the changing the view with the mouse. Many times, the paint terrain option is activated from continue when it should not be.
-There are three type of terrain, tunisia, sicily and normandy but when you load a map again, tunisia terrain is loaded by default and even if you change it to other, the tunisia open ground default objects (these rocks and small shrubbery) are loaded.
-Many times loaded a map, the terrain from some parts of the map is lost and it must be painted again......[8|]

>>> Hmmm - perhaps. I will see if I can make it more modal.

>>> So long as you have chosen the setting in the dropdown this should definitely be saved. I will check.

>>> I have never seen this. Are you sure it is not the buildings re-applying their terrain types (which will happen on map load into the game IIRC).

RE: Suggestion to be added in the map editor
Not really. I have seen what you say but it is different. Another problem perhaps relationated is the water, when I set the water level, it is showed as water, shallow or deep. Next after leave the map editor and load it again, the water was showed with the open ground rocks/shrubbery addition and from tunisia, after it if I set Normandy elements, the open ground rocks/shrubbery are not changed. In fact I have seen maps saved as Normandy elements but loaded in game with tunisia elements.-Many times loaded a map, the terrain from some parts of the map is lost and it must be painted again......
>>> I have never seen this. Are you sure it is not the buildings re-applying their terrain types (which will happen on map load into the game IIRC).
Other problem, the levels from terrain and water are not showed in future loads from the map and if you move the bars......you lose your previous settings.
Now at least I have made a order about what it must be made first.
-Terrain height and water. Because it is needed for the 3D objects.
-3D Objects.
-The last paint terrain or elements. Never paint it before the 3D objects or you will suffer these problems. Of course the key start hidding the 3D objects and the end key hidding the paint are very useful.
For end by now. A program recomendation making the bump maps, crazy bump, it is perfect making real trench and other elevations in the normal texture.

I discovered a thing, a single battle played alone even if it is set with Normandy detail, it shows elements, specially uniforms and armor painting from Tunisia. When the same battle is played in a operation, it does not happen.

Another suggestion, it would be something saying the name from the map.

RE: Suggestion to be added in the map editor
After several maps, the worse things from the map editor are the painting of terrain, it should have a key only for paint, some as the T from scale elemnents.
The other bad thing is the water level, I can not put anything lower of 0.09. The height bar has the problem but most of the maps are made with higher levels
About good points. From all the games played by me, it is the game with best editor in many ways. Many games have map editors very complex where players can end their lives thinking how the developers did not want players making new maps.[:)]
