Game keeps changing aircraft ranges

Post by Ekaton »

Game keeps changing maximum ranges of my planes, meaning that I need to constantly monitor my training squadrons or they will fatigue themselves to death. Is there a way to stop that?

It's probably tricky to take a screenshot of it, I would have to take screenshots of all the units I'm training - this happened all over the map - in Colombo, Suva, Pearl, CONUS, Australia. I can't remember precisely how many, but about a dozen units in various places. Judging by their fatigue level, some units reverted a longer time ago than others. I'm also absolutely certain they were all set to 0 range, as I check them periodically to see how the training is going.

It's easy to spot these units, even with others present in the hex - they would be the only ones with a training ratio of 100 and training setting other than airport attack - I always set their range to 0.

I've never encountered this before either, and I don't know what might be causing this. I'm using an Andy Mac's scenario, the most vanilla one, for the first time so I don't know if it can be related.

Set a new range for VMF-111 and run turn.  Report what happens with screenshot of the new range before running the turn and then a screen shot after running the turn.

Whatever you think is going on you should always set the range to zero when training at 100%. There is no point to do otherwise. If say, you want to train ASW against actual enemy subs set the squadron to train at 80% and do ASW at 20%.

edit: apologies, I see you meant for the range to be set to zero.

And turn that upgrade to the Corsair off. It isn't carrier capable anyway. Whenever a squadron upgrades, the range will go to max regardless of the original setting.

There is no game mechanism that will do this, except one: "Giving the AI a nudge" by letting the AI take control of your side while you run the other side for one turn or more.

Not just upgrades. If you toggle the Drop Tanks on and off (to check the transfer range with tanks), the aircraft will end up at max operational range setting.

I am seeing the same thing as Ekaton.

Scen 001v5, Allies, turn 8.

Range was changed from 0 to 4 hexes and altitude was changed from 11k feet to 18k feet in some CAP groups in Chungking. Moreover, for I-15s, range 4 is the extended range, so you can gain fatigue and drop morale pretty fast, if you do not notice this change.
