[Question] Does Italy's National Morale increase if .....

Post by ElvisJJonesRambo »

The games I've lost, Italy buckles under. For some reason, the cookie cutter players love pounding Italy, now I get it. Easy to understand if Italy is losing Ships, key cities, etc., that the people have had enough.

[Question] If Italy recaptures "key cities" or whatever made them sad, will their National Morale increase? The reason I ask, opponents are doing suicide missions when it gets close. If Italy will not get morale back for recapture, I might as well defend the what remains before "buckle under time".

Guess I could actually watch or test. But, ah, that means losing a game. Everyone knows, I don't do A.I. Figure the suicide squad leaders would know.

My understanding is that upon recapture you don't generally recover NM points lost due to loss of a NM city. There may a few specific exceptions, not sure about that. So, yeah, Italy can be hurt pretty badly by the French and British kamikazes. I saw the flip side of this in a game as the Allies, my Brits were pushed back to Iraq then rallied and drove the Axis all the way out of North Africa, recovering all lost NM cities and inflicting a big hurtin' on the Italians. This may have been in SCWiE, but the mechanism is the same. Yet even as I was landing in Italy, UK NM remained stuck at around 81. No credit for turning things around. I think it would be an improvement to provide for partial or total recovery of NM points upon recapture of a lost NM objective.

January 1947 --- Italy just surrendered, I don't get it. They were at 9% when I asked the question. Opponent plays turn, 8%. Why go down 1%? Nothing had changed. I clean out a city in Northeast Italy. Finish turn, surrender. Must have counted lasts turn or beginning of turn for the last 8%. No idea? The 1% may have been a ship. Would be nice to know the details. The good news, I moved Germans in. I got until May 1947 for the Marginal Victory. Need to hold Berlin, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Seoul and my favorite city, Manila.
