Ship on ship port attacks

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Ship on ship port attacks

Post by Tanaka »

How does the ship on ship port attacks work? If I see 1:0(5)10% what does each mean? It seems the ship to ship damage in ports is random? Sometimes hit and sometimes not hit at all?

10% chance to hit the ship.

What we need is a toggle so you as the attacker have a choice as to what your target is. Being in a port shouldn't be a shield, as all the shells blow up the docks around your ship, as the crew suns themselves serenely on the deck.

Likewise, bombers should have a similar toggle, target the resource or unit, for Strat & Medium at least.

If you hit the ship in the port, the number in the parenthesis will tell you the expected damage of the defending ship.

Ah thank you I see now. And the first two numbers are your own damage vs port damage correct? Also is this in the manuals anywhere? Could not find and should be?

That's right, and I believe it is mentioned in the Manual as I have a memory of writing it in there.

Effectively, it's included in the section on Shore Bombardment of resources on the top right of page 66.

It did get its own section in the World at War Manual entitled Attacking Naval Units in Port, but the principles are as outlined above in terms of the prediction being a % chance of damaging any unit occupying the resource.
