A couple of questions and 1 suggestion

Post by Clux »

QoL Improvements

1) It would be great if we had the hotkeys list on the “help” section ingame

General questions

1) How can you apply side skirts to your tanks? When I design a new tank it doenst ask me if I want to put sideskirts or not on it.

2) How does engine power vs weight works? I designed a Light tank with 40mm gun (100W) 25mm armour (125W) and a Medium Diesel Engine (60W and 300 Power). My math says tan it should weight 285W with 300P, but in the design log it says tan it weights 335 (+50 for base model). However, it says than it has an underpowered engine and a modifier of -30%, when the Engine Power its 90% of the Weight of the tank (It should have an 0% modifier)

1. I believe it is automatic once researched. You can check under management, models, designs. There it lists what a unit is using (padded armor, 80mm high velocity etc.)

2. The engine and chassis indeed increase weight, I'm ALWAYS underpowered for light tanks :) Until high techs (nuclear engine, polymer armor etc). Just accept the reduced movement. The penalty is just quite stiff...

Remember that there's a random element involved in the Design process too, and Field Testing and further design work can improve the Model in many different areas, which might explain odd discrepancies.

Thanks for replying guys!, also, If you "improve" a model, the stats get better (if you used it on the field obviusly) or its better to design a new one from zero?

I'd look at the Bureaucratic Points cost. If I'm not mistaken, it is cheaper to improve on an existing design the first few times than to create a new design from scratch. But - I'm making an assumption here - you could try for a lucky roll on a new design to try and get a better starting point to improve upon.

From what I've seen it seems useless to try and improve on a model that has not been at all tested in battle.

As for unarmored transports go, it seems to me one does only want to redesign them after having researched fuel efficiency technologies, since it's the only thing that appears to change.

DasTactic did a very strong explanation of this with examples in one of his play videos.

Sorry, I don't remember the specific video, but he runs down all the rolls and shows when to improve and when to start over again.

This is one of the areas I've not really explored, I'd love to see that video.
