Zones / pops / setting that are best for early growth?

Post by Red_Dwarf »

How many zones and pops, what settings should be on a planet to best ensure that you aren't spawned near another major power? I want room to spread out.

Also, what % of mines (and mountains?) should be rolled for pre-Apoc that leaves the best chance for good prospecting?

The planet generator is the culprit for that issue. The zones are placed in the most ideal place on the planet (as would happen in real life) and so the Major Regime zones are usually grouped together. Beginner mode prevents this completely, but otherwise I'd suggest re-rolling the planet if it's really a problem. Remember though that the Major's are sometimes friendly, and you can usually play them off somehow. Also, if there are several of them all close together, when two of them go to war, they're usually easy pickings :)

I think it's more to do with planet age. A younger planet will contain more metal.
