What planet types have people enjoyed?

Post by ObeseMonkey »

So I noticed a lot of people seem to be re-rolling till they get good or half decent planets. But for me so far having played on two different worlds, I think there’s a ton of fun to be had playing on a horrid waste of a planet! Anyone else done so?
My first planet was at its warmest -8c and quite mountainous, which made logistics fun of tricky. The last one I did however was something else 91% was sulfur. So it’s the highest danger to humans. There was no water on the surface, and some 97% were raiders! It was like trying to build an empire in Mad Max or something. Naturally I failed to do so, but it was fun.

Yes, the World Gen is going to add a LOT of Replay-ability with different challenges each time.

My current game is a lava world where Metals are abundant but Oil is not to be found.

Do you find that actual in-game troop levels for both yourself and the AI are drastically affected by planet conditions? I'm playing on a Siwa class easy planet with perfect atmosphere. There are tons of massive stacks of troops and food and water is super easy to get.

I think for my next game I'd like something with smaller populations and more difficult growth.

I'm not sure yet, as I haven't tried any more populated worlds, but I would hope so. From the worlds I played it certainly felt a bit smaller than what your describing. The last planet I mentioned was very hard to grow population because of the lack of water. So I had a big deficit in food, and had to at times buy it from traders, so a large population would of been tough. I assume the initial populations are affected by the history generation.

So Siwa class perfect worlds lend themselves to massive, technologically advanced world wars... I like those. But I've also chosen the smallest of the barren moons to play.... 5 cities total divided between 3 majors... expensive food and water and almost no minerals as well. 1 Brigade is a very powerful force there, and technology levels remain low.

Both are fun... but very different.

What happens on a world without oxygen, or a toxic world? Do you have to equip your troops differently?

All your troops need at least Enviro-Suits and you only have domed farms.

I've only had the game a few hours. So far I don't re-roll. I just go with the cards I've been dealt. Think it's better that way and more of a challenge.
