Moving your SHQ

Post by Geezerone »

Is there a way to move your 1st SHQ to another city? I've tried Move and Strategic Move to no avail.

My situation: My empire is strung out along the Arctic circle (multiple Majors along my southern borders), with my Capitol situated roughly in the middle, and my logistics was being overwhelmed to supply my troops and newly conquered cities (I've got rail II stations and sealed roads in a single band east to west); so all supplies have to travel to my Capitol and then back out to both borders. I then created a 2nd SHQ to the west and split my empire into 2 SHQ domains, with my Capitol, and the 1st SHQ right at the border between the eastern and western "provinces".

If I cannot move my 1st SHQ further east, it appears to me that I may have to create a 3rd SHQ for the east and keep my 1st SHQ in a central "province". Is this my only solution?

Well if you don't want to move SHQ you need to keep the whole empire in one bloc with rail and road

The issue is probably the weight of all the items in your 1st SHQ's inventory that make the cost of strategic movement prohibitive, since according to the manual (page 313, Strategic Transfer) it should be possible.

At the point your game is at, what you intend probably equates to moving the entire strategic stockpiles of a nation at once. One way to increase your chances of managing it would quite possibly be to pause all activity in your regime for one round, forbid any use of logistics to transfer items from the SHQ to the zones, from the SHQ to the units, from the zones to the SHQ and thus ensure 100% of your logistic capacity is reserved for strategically moving the SHQ and all its items.

Another possibility would transferring at least some of the items to the 2nd SHQ to reduce the weight of the 1st and try and move it then.
