Beta patch v1.01a-beta1 observations

Post by Malevolence »

For reference, version is open beta patch v1.01a-beta1. I am running a Win 10 Pro 64bit, Intel i7-1065G7, 16GB RAM. It is a Surface Pro 7, connected to 2560x1600 display monitor via USB-C.

Odd behavior. Finish turn calculations and start giving orders. Raise a new formation; resources debited. Save game. quit game. Restart game with save game. The resources used to raise the formation are still gone, but the new formation is also gone. It appears that the new formation was not saved.

Reproduction. Very oddly, I can reproduce the behavior if I start from a mid-turn player save and repeat the above. If I re-start the turn completely from an autosave, the issue is not reproducible. The saves are after patch, but I did not re-start the scenario after the beta patch update.

EDIT: identified; under mid-turn save, an event/decision takes place in the same zone. That event uses troops (unrest). The event resolution is assigning the troop casualties to the new, unavailable formation, but leaving the unit counter on the map. When the game is saved and restarted, the new unit's counter is deleted because the troops were casualties in the event.

Example of this behavior later after another zone event (i.e. crack down). All casualties seem to come from one unit. In these cases, the one unit in the city hex. It's listed as a zone event, however.

The Combat Totals list does not support vertical scroll. Information (e.g. recon level) is not visible.

After sometime playing now, the Turn History has really become an annoyance to follow.

The battles are fairly easy to recognize if the map centers properly, but usually it is a hunt to discover the border hex that changed or some other enemy unit move.

If it was important enough to include in the history log, it was important enough to give a text/string clue as to what to see on the map.

"No further information" too often means "No information, but it was worth warning you about it anyway".

Attempted a "Plea of Friendship" with the selected regime. Strategem under covert ops.

Per the image, requires Recon 1 of one or better; currently have a recon of 10.

Likely this is not a regime. The invalid message, however, does not indicate that issue.

Regarding Counters column, Division echelon symbol is "XX". The image "X" is Brigade echelon symbol.

I assume the Army subordinates (under with OHQ) is wrong as well, if you intended those units to be Divisions.
