What are epochs and where are they explained?

Hi. Those are random events whose effects can be dramatic at times, either positively or negatively. It's not in the manual and I'm not sure it is described in detail anywhere in the game, but you quickly get the point while playing.

I've yet to discover their exact number, but I've seen an epoch of bureaucracy that boosted BP production, and an epoch of corruption when my leaders, well, had their corruption stat getting increases. I believe there's an epoch of unrest, and an epoch of discoveries, and quite some more.
They last a varying number of turns and get gradually stronger before peaking, then decreasing then ending. When an epoch ends you gain some fate points.

It's random and quite potent, so if you dislike this randomness, it can be disabled. An epoch can greatly help, greatly inconvenience, or barely bother you depending on the roll of the dice.
I have not yet made my mind about it yet, but I had luck with epochs so far. [:D]

Since the RNG is by nature unfair, it really depends on if you're willing to submit to its whims or would rather have more control over your game.

aha, so its these bonus i get at the beginning at the game (research for example) that will reach max efficiency in 3 turns for example?
