GR Infantry Replacement

I want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. These troops are quite powerful early in the game, but I don't think we can replace them with other than "normal" equipment units rather than the advanced units they are, correct? Maybe later in the game we will develop the technology to do like-type equipment replacements?

You can't train replacements, but you can transfer equipment into the unit to turn them into a useful combat unit. They need to be in the same hex, when the unit is selected on the right sidepanel there is a "transfer" button. There are some limits about what equipment can go into which unit.

I have been playing around a bit with the idea of transfer but have had no success. Can you list an example of something that has worked for you please.

I transfered various GR Units into an GR mobile shield unit and reinforced it with transfers from independent tank and mechanized units.

Militia units can only accept other militia of the same type and in limited amounts and regular units can only accept units that fit into its ToE (The units and numbers that it is raised with). Only GR units can accept reinforcements beyond their inital numbers.

There might be some additional restrictions.
