For those that have shown an interest to simulate a planet like Arrakis, for example, read on.
The frustration per trying to generate life on a 'Seth Class' planet has been well documented.
It is what it is, however; there is another method to bring this...dream to fruition.

Simply choose the 'Unclassified Class' & roll up a warm planet, then a desert planet on the 'Geology' screen to your liking.
Then, onto the 'Biosphere' screen where you proceed to re-roll until alien life appears.
I have found that it is not a long process & sometimes, very quick.
Anyways, just thought I would share.
