Possible Bug, Very Wildly Different Calculation Predictions

Post by Tester28 »

This is on the release version of the game: [v1.01 a]

Look at these pictures. The only difference between the two is the order of the infantry units. Why are the predictions so wildly different? One has 6:1, and the other goes more than double that to 13:1!

I did not see anything in the game manual's combat section that said the predictions should be based on the order units are placed in the attack, but it certainly changes around every time I do that. This is the most egregious example I've seen so far.

I placed it on imgur for the full context.

The game determines the attack odds by simulating a round of combat, with the enemy composition based on what your recon is telling you. It does this each time you add or remove an unit, and since there's a significant element of randomness involved in combat, you can get different results each time.

Then why is it consistently 6:1 in one order and 13:1 in the other? It's always those odds and those numbers when they're put in that order.

Look closely at the leader bonuses in the two images.

It matters because one of your OHQ commanders is much better than the other.

That offensive is using two separate OHQ formations.

I can see that. That's why I posted it. But WHY are they different? It's the same units in the attack, and I didn't see anything in the manual saying the order of your units in the attack matters.

Order is determining which OHQ commander to use for the estimate. [s]It cannot be two OHQ rolls.[/s]

You get potentially [s]one[/s] multiple OHQ and one SHQ benefit in an engagement.

Some tests on this while I was seizing a zone. Order is determining which OHQ commander to use for the estimate. However, as a correction to above, you can actually get more than one OHQ benefit during the battle.
