Try this for Multiplayer

Ok, PBEM is a great way to experience competing vs another human/humans.
There is 'hotseat', but I can just imagine how long that would take, though it is very nice that 'Vic' added it, as it is becoming a rare addition to many turn-based games.
I am thinking a few competent players who are familiar with the game could enjoy this format, as us 'oldtimers' had to suffer through years ago. [:)]

One way to try 'hotseat' over the internet is via a free program called 'Team Viewer' & there are others from what I have been told.
Per that format, only one version of the game is needed & could be a nice way to show off the game to someone who is interested in purchasing it.

Anyways...
That is not the purpose of this post, however.
Consider this format for a 'head to head' match.
Two people sharing the same 'lastplanetgenerated.se1' file.
Now, either in the same room, or via 'Team Viewer' for a long distance match (simulating being in the same room); you could have a session while conversing/trash talking with your friend/opponent.
Similar to a 'lan' party environment.

Of course, this could be done over a period of time if an immediate prolonged gathering is not desirable/possible.
In any event, competing for the higher human Victory Score is the point & the game can be set to play for as many turns as deemed enough to end it.
Thus, for example, a Large Planet could be a viable, practical challenge due to a set number of turns allowed before deciding a human winner per the higher Victory Score.
Keeping the game within a reasonable time frame per completion.

I will add, even a PBEM game could have a forced number of turns to end the game & declare a human winner based on the higher Victory Score, due to time constraints.

Yes, that is a very good feature, allowing a teammate you can control. [:)]
