Better territorial-control colors

Post by Grotius »

I love the game, but my top issue is the color overlay on the main map. The '5' hotkey just doesn't make clear enough who owns what territory. Minors don't seem to get an overlay color at all. I'd like a bright, garish color for each and every power -- major powers as well as minor powers. I want to see clearly who's got what territory. As is, I can kind of see, in muted colors, which major powers hold territory. But distinguishing among minors is next to impossible without clicking tediously on hexes in each zone.

The strategic map is somewhat better: if you turn on 'diplomatic colors,' you get an improved color overlay. I'd like the '5' hotkey to do something similar on the main map. The Paradox games do this well: each country -- even the smallest one -- has a bright, vivid color.

I love the subtle color change of '5' hotkey! I just use it as an extra border between me and 'them' (all of them). It's really nice imo.

If you want something like the regime colors on the Strategic map on the main game screen/map then I would very explicitly request that this be a new optional addition rather than changing what I love.

Currently you only got colored borders if you are either:
- at war with them
- would have to declare war with them, to move the borders

Games like these always suffer from an issue of not having nearly enough, visually distinct colors for the map. Aside from not showing too many colors, no solution has presented itself yet.
