Disappearing units? Blame group move and get beta patch

I've had a couple of occasions where an OHQ would suddenly lose a unit or three. Had to restore an old save to get them back. I've finally isolated the issue.

You can use group move to move into a regime's territory without declaring war. When you end your turn, all units moved into the other regime's territory disappear from play.

Apparently the current beta fixes the group move issue which should no doubt prevent the mystery disappearance of units.

Even better news the patch restores the units in enemy territory.
