Logistic Logs - branching count does not match traffic allocation. 1.04

Post by ydmatrix2 »

Somewhat of an interesting edge case I think.

At this branch, traffic that comes from the north has two direction to go - SE and NW, both with a 60% traffic sign.
* Looking at the truck points, we can see they are not "wasted" - all the incoming 364 pts are divided equally to both direction (thus the SE and NW traffic signs have no actual impact for this particular flow).
* Looking at the branch count however, we see it is only incremented from 1.0 to 1.4, as if to account for only partial flow diversion.
This difference can be easily seen by setting SE and NW traffic signs to 0% (bottom half of screenshot) - truck points don't change, branch count however is incremented to 2.0.

Did you mean "branching count takes traffic signs into account, even if they have no net effect"?

That depends on the design intention.
If I remember correctly, in some of the previous versions, such setting of traffic signs would actualy "waste" truck points (if there was % blockage on all possible continuation paths). In such context, I think the partial branch count would make sense (as in - "consistent with the traffic allocation logic").

Since here there is no truck points waste in this scenario, despite the traffic signs, a branch count consistent with this logic would indeed be a full increment, not partial.
