2D10 Rsults

Post by adarbrauner »

Dear friends,

am playing again the game after a 2+ years interruption, and am shaking out the rust.

First questionç

why did I get the land combat results as shown in attached image?

ratio was of 34 : 4, which is a ratio of 8 or 9 to 1, so why the system calculated a ratio of 14 to 1?

It isn't 14-1, it is plus 14 DRM.

Each odds ratio is a +2 DRM - so you have gone from +17 (8.5:1), then you have two negatives, a -2, and a -1, to a +14.

This is why ground striking divisions is less important with the 2D10 - an odds increase is +2 compared to a +1 for one flipped division.*

[Edit: *a flipped corps is a +2 DRM.]

R you saying that odds ratio should be doubled in favor of the attacker, for the effect of DR modifier?

Can't find it in the manual.

No, the "sum of attacker's combat points" will not be doubled.
Attacker has 25 ground combat factors + 9 air = 34. Defender has 4. This constitutes a combat odds of exactly 8,5:1.
Now, using 2d10 CRT optional rule, the attacker gets a +2 DRM for each odds level => +17 DRM. Defender subtracts -1 DRM for HQ supply and -2 DRM for city, yielding a final +14 DRM.

No - I'm saying each positive odds ratio is a plus two (2) DRM. Each 0.5 odds increase is a plus 1.

I am not 100% sure it will produce the same mathematical result to double the attack strength, as opposed to the odds ratio.

The example in the RAC clarifies it.
11.16.6 2d10, Odds Modifier When playing with Fractional odds (see 11.16.5), the odds modifiers are considered linear (e.g. 3.65:1 gives you 7.3 die roll modifiers, while 3.64:1 gives you 7.2). When playing with this option, there is no upper limit to the odds table (e.g. 15.54:1 gives you 31 die roll modifiers).
