Midway sentinel issue

Post by Bagpipe »

Hello,

Seems Midway is appearing as a white blob when viewing sentinel layer. Other layers are quite blurry whereas nearby islands and landmasses are all ok.

Might have been intentionally redacted.

Might have been intentionally redacted.

Sentinel is an ESA (European Space Agency) earth imaging program, seems unlikely the ESA would be willing to redact imagery of (former) American military installations.

Google Earth shows Midway Atoll just fine, so my guess is it's more likely that Midway isn't in the Sentinel 2 dataset because the spacecraft didn't get around to imaging it.

There are still significant parts of the earth that don't get scanned. I know I can't look at my home where I grew up because it isn't covered in Northern Maine in the US. No one lives there and nothing ever happens there so they don't waste their time.
