the black sea

Post by boldairade »

can you sail a force in there? it would seem you can't get thru the straits.

but to get baku(and hence turkey) you'd need to get thru there.

but it seems turkey doesn't want you sailing thru?

or am i totally wrong about all of this?

As Axis, you need to wait that Romania joins your side. Once done, you will have their navy.
Chancellor Gorkon to Captain James T. Kirk:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_Straits_crisis

Historically Turkey was neutral so no passing through straits possible. Ismet Pasha was pressured by the Soviets later in 1946.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreux_ ... he_Straits
'That was to have significant repercussions during World War II when the Montreux regime prevented the Axis powers from sending naval forces through the Straits to attack the Soviet Union.[citation needed] The Axis powers were thus severely limited in naval capability in their Black Sea campaigns, relying principally on small vessels that had been transported overland by rail and canal networks.'

You don't get German ships but you do get access to your Landing Ships so you can create a threat all out of proportion to your force.
