Why is Windows 10 Install Different Than Windows 7

Warplan is a World War 2 simulation engine. It is a balance of realism and playability incorporating the best from 50 years of World War 2 board wargaming.

Why is Windows 10 Install Different Than Windows 7

Post by canuckgamer »

I just finished installing War Plan on my new PC which is Windows 10. I wanted to install a unit and map mod so I went to My Games, War Plan, Campaigns and clicked on the 1939 Campaign. The Windows 10 install doesn't have any of the png files showing in my Windows 7 install. I have a unit and map mod installed on my Windows 7 game and there are png files for units, terrain, terrain etc. What gives?

I'm not following here.

The images should go here.

C:\Users\"your user name"\Documents\My Games\WarPlan\Campaigns\Europe 1939

or whichever campaign.

It should be the same in either OS.

Make you you can see all file types. You also might have a permission error with WarPlan reading that folder.

Both installs are 1.00.07.3 In the Windows 10 install there are no png files visible. However the game seems to run fine so the program must be getting it's unit and terrain images from the New Custom Images folder.

The path of the install on my Windows 10 PC is:

This PC/ Documents / My games / Warplan / Campaigns / Europe 1939

My concern is that I don't know how I can install a mod since as an example, there is no unit.png to replace.

I can attach it to an email if that would help as the screenshot is 4.16 MB.

You don't need to replace the png. The original game has it already integrated.

You just dump the mod images in the scenario folder you want to play then start the game. It will look for custom images and if it finds them import them.

units.png = counterset 1
unitsAlt.png = counterset 2

I had saved the modded units png files from Panzer Mike that I used in my Win 7 install. Tonight I changed the name of the NATO plus 3D to units.png and copied it to the 1939 Campaign folder. It didn't work as the original unit graphics was still there. I may uninstall and reinstall again or just play with the original game graphics.

Post a screen shot of the campaigns/Europe 1939 folder. or whatever scenario you are using.

Also run the program and post this.

Error game logs are here
C:\Users\"your user name"\AppData\LocalLow\Kraken Studios\WarPlan\output_log.txt

Also tell me exactly what mod you are using and what scenario

Sorry but I don't know how to post a screen shot to a forum post. As I mentioned, the screenshot I took of the 1939 Campaign folder is 4.16 MB so it's way too large anyway.
Here are the exact contents of the 1939 Campaign folder in my Windows 10 install. They are all text documents.

victory
scenarioGamePlay
ScenarioDesription
loops
_transport
_invasion_
_grandStrategy
_giveUnit
_gatherNaval
_gatherLand
_gatherAir
_events
_changeOrder
_changeBuild

The mod I used from Panzer Mike on my Windows 7 PC install were for units.
NATO units plus 3D
The ground units have the NATO symbols but the air, naval and tank units are 3D graphics of historical planes like ME 109's. Also the counters for ground units look bevelled and a slight darker shade around the perimeter.

I started up War Plan and checked C:\Users|My name\ but did not see an AppData.
