What is the best tutorial video for CMSF2

Shock Force 2 brings you to a hypothetical conflict in Syria between the forces of NATO and the Syrian Army. Play either on WeGo or Real Time in an incredibly detailed and realistic 1:1 tactical simulation.

What is the best tutorial video for CMSF2

Post by JWW »

for people like me who have never played the CM series? I downloaded the demo and played through the first "training" scenario, and I got a win, so I was able to get a basic understanding. But I would still like to see a tutorial for dummies who have never played the series. Then maybe I could win the tutorial without losing two Strykers, a whole squad of infantry, running out of mortar ammunition, etc. Thanks.

A YouTube poster by the handle Usually Hapless has a number of excellent videos both on play-through and mechanics.
CM Basics: Spotting
CM Basics: Direct Fire
CM Basics: Firefight 1
CM Basics: Infantry Movement

Some additional ones on CM Tactics. He is looking into the game engine. so even though the videos may nt be CMSF2 they're still relevant information.

CM Tactics I: Concentration
CM Tactics II: Surprise
CM Tactics III: Controlling the battlefield
CM Technical Bits

Below is a link to a Combat Mission Blog by Bil Hardenburger. A very helpful site with good information, examples and training scenarios you can download and play.

Also, for now, I would recommend playing on veteran skill level instead of basic training skill level. The tentative floating contact icons (the faded last know contact of an enemy unit) don't work on basic training. So on basic when an enemy fire team disappears into a house the contact icon completely disappears. On the other skill levels a faded, last know contact icon will display above the house. IMO this makes basic training more difficult than the next level up which is veteran.

Also the Battlefront forums are very active and a great source of information. The posters are friendly and ready to help with any and all questions about the game. Good luck.
