Ok, network games???

Post by Wraith77 »

Ok apart from losing many limbs (to include my head) over and over versus the random AI, I really enjoy this game.

 ...and well, even though I suck, I'd like to find out how to link to other people who want to play online.

How do I do this?

And also, without using the scanner will the system notify you if you blow off a limb of the computer or damage any of the internal systems?

So far I haven't been able to get a single notification...

MAN I MUST SUCK!

To my knowledge, you never receive info on damaged internals on a computer. I recall one memorable session where a comp ejected with maybe one part yellow, and I couldn't figure out why, till the end of game and I looked at his ToS, and just about all his systems were medium or heavily damaged... Gotta love mesons :D

To do a net game, you see that thing on the battlefield that says Network Game? (You need v1.4) You also need to contact someone with ICQ or some other IM program. You need their IP, if they're hosting, or you give them your IP, if they're hosting. Then just fill in the info, and its pretty self-descriptive from there. If it isn't, the person yer chatting with on the IM prog will help you :) *cough*should help you*cough*

As Crush said, all you need is an IP number to connect to, which means one of the players needs to /dns himself or something, takes just a second.
Look me up in icq (see my profile), and I'll give you a recon duel in the dungeons.

The message detail switch (in F4) has a double functionality. By choosing HIGH you get all messages, yours and the opponent's, be them internal or external damage (provided you're within scanner range of course). By choosing LOW you only get important messages from your side (to speed up gameplay), *and* only some of your opponent's, depending on the type of message (to make it more challenging) - for example, crit messages won't show.

The scanner is vital for this. If it is destroyed or turned off (or if you simply don't have one), the info you get is minimal - on terrain, on opposing titans, etc. You'll only get detailed info if the target hex/titan is in the same hex you're in.
