ODD

Post by Zovs »

I think others have posted this link before:

http://yves.lr.pagesperso-orange.fr/ODD/ODD.htm

But when you try to download the ODD file it gives you an error page in French and Google translate (to English) says the file no longer exists.

Where can one find and download ODD?

Thanks.

You could PM the creator who is still active on this forum under the username Raindem.

I can't believe Yves' (AKA Biohazard) website is still up. The horrible colour scheme on that page was set to match the TDG colour scheme from back in the day.

... wow that sent me on a brief nostalgia trip. Although the forum was deleted, all the old user profiles from the 2000ish Matrix forum still exist. One can look folks up and see who showed up when the TOAW III forum got turned on, who didn't, who apparently died (white rabbit), what other games they post about etc.

I responded to your email, Don, but gmail won't accept the attachment. Here's the latest version, which is a few years old. It has not been tested with TOAW IV.

Well it was ten years ago I think. His last post here was in 2009 at which point we were surprised he was still going. From memory he had let us know he had terminal cancer some time previously. He was a pretty old dude (big grey beard in the photo we had at TDG) so he had his time.

Did his Dinant 40 scenario ever get published? That was really strong as I recall.

EDIT: There's a scenario covering this battle on The Blitz but I think it's by another designer. I have a copy of WR's in my email (from 2007- the advantage of not having changed provider in 18 years), I'll crack it open later and hopefully not unleash an ancient curse.

He was constantly carping about TOAW needing "elephants".

Ben, is your last name Knight? And did you write this back in the ‘day’?

Wow, jeeze no I was four in 1988.

Check my Poland 39 and Rhodes 43 scenarios. Those I actually did write, and they have my full name on them.

Oh yeah I remember that. There was also the time that he explained separate beds was good for his marriage as it made it more of a challenge.

...and how about every post starting with dots?

He usually ended with them too...

Yeah Dinant 40 opens in TOAW IV and looks pretty good. Ten minutes work fixes some bugs generated by the conversion from ACOW.

I feel like I should post this for general consumption since I don't think this is published anywhere at the moment, anyone with a reason why I shouldn't?

WR playtested the original release of Campaign for South Vietnam with me, and I promised to include airmobile elephants in a future update. Still working on that....
