Common method to determine naval values

Post by macgregor »

I'm curious from those who have made scenarios(or not but like myself, have contemplated the task)who have come up with a formula to determine naval values. There's speed, attack, defense, agility, shell weight, and range. Toaw3 is generic. Toaw4 deserves more I think. I like what I've seen in some new scenarios, but they're all different.

I'd like to post a list of all ship classes and their more unique combat values for TOAW. I think the TOAW community in general would benefit from any possible standardization of the format. Perhaps naval planes as well. Anyway, I'm just going to hopefully open a discussion about it because, while I can get the specs anywhere; how to convert them into combat values begs a conversation with someone who knows more intimately exactly what should go into them.

WITP-AE has a wealth of information about ships, planes, and LCU's from both sides of the conflict. Leaders as well. It's where I go when I need to know the range of the B-17E/F or the B-24B or the P-38A, etc. I trust the WITP-AE team to have done their homework and have distilled the stats down to game level for us. I bought it about 10 years ago for $80 and I've gotten my money's worth out of it several times over. Enough of the infomercial.

Mac,

Have you looked at the " Whats new v4.pdf " file (part of installation) ? There is a fair amount of information regarding the nqp file and its values in that document.

Cheers

Speed, armor, shell weight, and range are raw figures that can be found online. Agility is speed times a ship-type factor.

Attack and Defense values are discussed here:

I've had a request for some WITP-AE stats on Allied Aircraft and so I did a cut and paste of a large number of them. Enjoy.
