US Navy 1975?

Post by SunlitZelkova »

Hi,

I am trying to create an order of battle for the US Pacific Fleet circa 1975. I have been unable to find anything about it. Does anyone know of where to find such information? Internet searches have so far only yielded information about the evacuation of Saigon. The only other option I can think of is to go through each ship class, read each individual ship's history and then "put the pieces together" based on where they were based.

I try to be historically accurate myself, so I usually pick up an old copy of Janes for the period I'm interested in, they're pretty cheap now. It doesn't give homeports but then I look up the ship classes I'm interested in on https://www.navysite.de/ships.htm. It has cruise information and cruise books there for many (most) vessels, especially more modern vessels.

Another great resource for carriers and air wings is http://www.gonavy.jp/CVf.html

This is also useful, but registered crew members for a ship can edit the cruises with mixed results, still a good reference. https://www.hullnumber.com/index.htm

I was Navy, but Assigned TAD to the 24th MAU Hq in Beirut. By far the finest period of my service!
