Scrapping too many units. Avoidable?

World in Flames is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. World In Flames is a highly detailed game covering the both Europe and Pacific Theaters of Operations during World War II. If you want grand strategy this game is for you.

Scrapping too many units. Avoidable?

Post by Joseignacio »

The game doesnt tell you how amany units you use for the deployment of each kind, if you scrap too many you may find you dont have enough of a/some kind/s to fulflill the needs and you lose it in the deployment.

THEN the game tells you you scrapped too much but it doesn't warn you in the scrap.

Can this be mended? Or at least offer a list of how many units of each kind are necessary.

To my knowledge, during the scrap phase, the number of units needed in the game is shown per sort of unit.

Strangely enough, according to the rules, one can scrap units, even if they were needed to be setup.

Centuur is correct. When you start a new game, you will eventually get to the scrap units screen. If you place the cursor over one of the units in the "Can be scrapped" box, the number of that type of unit you need and the total number of units of that type appear above the box.

I think even scrapping the maximum possible, the only shortage created for set-up is in Russian subs, or at least that's my recollection.

No, the CW and France can also can scrap too many subs, and the Russians can scrap too many FTRs. The US, Italy, the CW, and Japan can all scrap too many transports. The CW can scrap too much infantry.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

I saw that line of non-scrappable units but I thought it was just those ones the non scrappable, one each, not that there was a number of each kind. [X(][:@]

Thanks, I'll try next time.

Anyway I stil believe the game should not let you scrap too many.

And I hope I am not the foolest player so maybe more people didn't realize I had to hover the mouse on them. Of course, maybe this is in some line across the books that I haven't read but it would be easy to make it more friendly if you could see the number at first sight.

I know I can scrap anytime provided they fulfill the requirements for it (age or having been destroyed). But it is very important to scrap the worst ones at the beginning of the game because some of then are really really crappy.

There is a USSR GARR worth 2, but I sometimes scrap a second, worth 3. Then I miss one GARR.
There are fighters worth 2 AtA, if you scrap 2 of them you lose one plane.
I have had a Mot CORPS worth 3, I believe, if I scrapped it, the same.
And subs, USSR and others sometimes

Of course I would have let them be had I know they were necessary.

Thanks for the tip about how to check this, it's a valueable help.
