Oil Tankers

World in Flames is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. World In Flames is a highly detailed game covering the both Europe and Pacific Theaters of Operations during World War II. If you want grand strategy this game is for you.

Oil Tankers

Post by Omnius »

I'm really disappointed that we won't be getting oil tankers, the one change that would most improve the extremely annoying convoy system. Without them the UK/Commonwealth player always has a tough choice whether to send oil to China since doing so always screws up the current convoy routing and then it's a total hassle getting the convoys corrected so that the oil flows to China from a more local source rather than England.

I've been waiting for decades, since the very first computer version put out by Australian Design Group, to see oil tankers improve the extremely annoying convoy system. It works so well in the board version that it's a real shame not to have that in this computer version. I sure hope other players wanting oil tankers will chime in and say so now!

This may sound silly but, let me share one (crazy) idea.

Currently, we can set the die roll if we want to. Could it be possible to implement a convoy system "override"? The game would make the calculations, but the final numbers could be corrected by the players at will (thus correcting any possible mistake). This would allow players to go fully "manual" if they want to. They would only need to agree on what is the final values (through the chat or messaging).

It's (probably) a low implementation effort.

If you want to stop the annoying Canada oil always trying to go to China just use the oil to reorg units. This way it is certain to pick up the Burma oil or DEI oil.
