Why can't I create motorbike infantry model with combat armour?

Hi,

interestingly, I can design foot infantry, MG, artillery etc. models with Combat Armour. While for motorbike infantry the best available is Padded Envirosuit. Any ideas why? thanks

I hoenstly do not know. I think it was reported but Vic propably deemed it a tradeoff for the mobility.

I reported it back on release and Vic answer was something like the motorcycle would stop being effective if Infantry had combat armor or superior, which in my opinion its bs and should change it to put a "bigger engine" as it happens with other models, so, as it stands right now, they are only useful in early game

You'd expect even if Power Armor was too bulky for motorbiking, you'd at least be able to put on an Envirosuit + Shield Generator...

The armour Judge Dredd wears on his bike is pretty bulky from what I remember. Depends on how authoritative you consider comic books.

I was picturing biker infantry evolving into something like the flash quads from PlanetSide.

I can kind of visualize armour going through a phase of being impractically bulky, but then as it gets more and more high tech becoming lighter again. However implementing an on / off / on mechanic for motorbike armour feels like it would be a pain.

I magine sidecar bikes would be possible, and hoverbikes as a later tech.

Hmm. Maybe just as there are light and heavy tanks there could be light and heavy bikes? One of my favourite old anime was called Venus Wars and featured anti-tank motorcycles. Admittedly a rather high casualty rate in that particular division...

The equivalent of torpedo boats... little two-wheeled torpedo boats. Destroyer Bikes. I can dig it.

Yeah they were something of a desperation guerilla force recruited from teenage motorcycle gangs after the regular armour got wiped out. There was a manga sequel to Venus Wars but it was about as good as Starship Troopers II Japan and anime seem to have had a bit of a fascination with motorcycles for a while in the 80's / 90's, Akira coming to mind.

Still better survival rate then the suicide bombers for C&C Generals. Including their motorcycle variants...
