Not doing a full AAR but if you have questions thought I would create a thread to answer them
RE: Ne4w game v Desertwolf
How many games do you actually have on currently?

RE: Ne4w game v Desertwolf
China Lost Northern Australia Lost Allied Carriers lost Southern India Lost this one is a doozy
My opponent has committed to attacking Soviet Union - I think he is mad to try it I still have plenty of AV in China going to try and get what I can to the north the rest will stand and fight on the nastiest terrain I can find to slow him down and cause damage to his forces - map wide fight to the death instruction given
India - cancelled evacuation and fortress Bombay plans - this is a scen 1 game bugger that going to stabilise my front get my Divisons re-organised and take India BACK at 1st opportunity initally going to re organise around Delhi and make sure Karachi and environs are well protected - Bombay is where the Indian Army goes to die - Karachi is where it rises like a Pheonix - its a no brainer for me Karachi is number 1 must hold city if you have to get pushed back to one place it has to be Karachi but I dont intend to get pushed back - FFS this is a Scen 1 game he doesnt have the Divisions to take India from me
Asked for 4 day pause to reverse all evac plans and evaluate situation but mostly that was to allow 3 days to put entire Army in strat mode and get it heading to a proper defensive line
Indian Army is a mess but still has a lot of raw power biggest loss is the AA guns as my fighters are not up to much as pilot training has been weak.
Far Far too many Bdes and Bns floating around
1st order of business disband any Bde or Bn sized forces that I can and use the rest to secure my LOC back to Karachi
All replacement devices to got to Div sized units only and all broken down Divs to be recombined ASAP.
Major Cities to be garissoned to make him fight for them so Bombay is not abandoned but now has only expendable units in it same with Ahmebad - probably too late to get a decent Garrison into Cawnpore
With demise of China imminent evac cadre of as many unrestricted Chinese Corps as can be reached I will need the AV for the reconquest.
All I need is time to get supplies into India and time to get my Divisions reorganised - may 42 and still have Indian Squads in Divs - FFS Indian 42 Sections are essential upgrade and so easy to get
Both 11th and 9th Indian Divs are on map - I dont have replacements for either will probably disband for at least 6 months rest of Army I will re evaluate
I will need Armour, Arty and properly constituted and supported Divisions (of 3 CW Infantry Bdes) with proper Corps Army and Command HQ support.
After I finish my re org I will re assess situaton - what I really wnat to do is rush forward any US forces available in India as part of the forward fortress garrisons as they are expendable given my pool device depth and a couple of US RCT's in places like Bombay would put a real spine in the garrison and force him to commit to take it.
I dont believe in using CW Bdes or Regts unless absolutely essential
Divisions only and I want plenty of replacement devices for them would rather have 3 properly organised Divisions than 5 Division equivalents made up of Bns and Bdes

All convoys leaving India were turned around and are now unloading at Karachi I will trade ground for time if I have to until my Divisions are ready to take India back but I think he is going to be over stretched
I would like to evac some units out of Ceylon but probably not possible as I have no idea where his carriers are

RE: Ne4w game v Desertwolf
No 4 is fine as long as they are mostly Allied and I dont try to AAR one I have normally got 4 on the go at one time and the only time I struggled was when i was doing AAR's
2 of my opponents are on US time so I dont get many turns 2 are on Euro time so sometimes we get a few done

RE: Ne4w game v Desertwolf
Just a note. When he does attack the Soviet Union, then Alma-Ata will send supplies into Northern China. So moving as many Chinese corps as possible to the Urumchi area will be useful. They will have bountiful supply and can fill out their squads. Chinese heavy weapons are always a problem. If necessary Soviet units can also move into China that way. If you can afford it, the Soviets have a lot of Art units.

Thanks
Been focussed on India last few turns
Defence is split as follows
Trincomalee - c 400 AV Lvl 3 forts centered around the 3 Indian Bdes digging in as hard as they can - they will fall eventually but tying up Jap Divs in a siege is the objective.
Bombay - c 300 AV lvl 5 forts centred around an Indian Bde and a US Rgt again will take a few Divs to clear me out
Central India Bhopal and Indore and the 2 big rail junctions III Indian Corps with 80%+ Full strength 6th Aus, 7th Aus and 18th Brit Divs and an Armoured Bde (c 40%) plus a couple of Armoured Car Regts acting as Corps recon
North India (Delhi and Agra to Moradabad Line)
XV Corps (23rd 75%, 26th 100% and 14th (66%) Indian Divs plus 50th Tank Bde with about 30 tanks)
IV Corps (7th, 19th and 23rd Indian Div all 70 - 80% of TOE)and 254th Armoured Bde with about 40 Tanks and a motorised Inf Bn)
Army Reserve 7th Armoured Bde with 14th and 23rd British Bdes in support (all 100%)
17th Indian Div is covering Karachi in Bde strength with various ISF and other non disbandable Indian Bns covering every base north of the Delhi/Bombay line
Basically zero chance of a para drop being successfull as I have enough LCU's to cover in depth
All forces have a Corps HQ in support, good leaders anre now getting to 99% morale and experience whislt low on some Indian units every Corps is steadily increasing both strength and experience
I have plentifull supply forts building everywhere, enough replacement squads to bring all my Divs (other than 17th) up to strength in next 3 months (albeit will still be short of Bren and 25 Pounders)
I am on balance with reserves, supplies, evac routes if required and air support whose pilots are in process of training hard.
I am 100% confident I can hold until relieved !!!

RE: Ne4w game v Desertwolf
No carriers, and an attack on the Soviet Union.....looks like you're going to play WITEAL, or "War in the East Asian Landmass".
Seriously, any naval plans at all before 1944, or do you have to just focus on India and places you can advance without CV support? The challenge is that he doesn't even need to have a single KB; for the next year, he can divide his CV forces into 2 or 3 parts, cover more ground, and still keep you at bay

RE: Ne4w game v Desertwolf
I have 1 working CV and 2 RN CV's that withdraw soon - naval assaults will be limited
RE: Ne4w game v Desertwolf
Not a lot to say India is quiet I have 4 Corps organised and waiting but zero point in attacking yet for a long while.
Most of my attention is on the Soviet theatre getting ready
My plans are mostly ready now just waiting for the balloon to go up.
I have accepted I probably cannot stop him cutting the rail line I have 21 Inf Divs, 2 Tank Divs, 23 Inf Bdes, 15 Tank Bdes, 4 Motorised Inf Bdes and 7 Cav Divs (Bde Sized) = so about 40 Div Equivalents plus lots of Arty and NKVD units for rear area protection but the area I have to cover is immense with no strategic depth
Assuming I am going to dig in at Vladivostok to bleed him and defend the USSR entry point in strength I need to work out what my tactics are going to be for the vast area in between - my initial thoughts are to concentrate Armour and Motorised Units int he North and most of the Inf Divs in the south and basically try to attack out of Mongolia with my mobile assets but thats high risk so I need to really consider my options I would like to hold the Sturmovik factory as long as I can and also protect the Soviet fleet if I can so need to keep some airpower protecting vladivostock.
My only goal is to still have a Soviet in 45 when my reinforcements arrive.

The Soviet submarine fleet is solid and has working torpedoes: if you can base them somewhere safe, they could do a number on Japanese shipping and warships.

If you think he's going to cut the rail, you probably need to pull as much supply as you can to Vlad. Drain the Soviet Union Base. You should be able to accumulate 500K or so around the Far East at least....you'll need to clear the rail eventually, but that stockpile can at least see you through a few months.
IIRC, there is very little on-map supply production; it all comes from the Soviet Union box
RE: Ne4w game v Desertwolf
I already have 500k and lvl 9 forts at Vladivostock and lvl 6 at the other bases
It really depends how quickly he cuts the rail line after he crosses the border if I get even 3 or 4 days I can redeploy significantly
My biggest worry is my air force I have no replacements and no pilots
A few weeks ago I disbanded all naval search sqns as range 4 with no firepower painfully slow search planes are a waste of pilots - I have been retraining them as fighter or bomber pilots.
All of my air units are so short ranged to almost being useless in the south so most of my bombers are in bases where they can do local air to mud I only have 3 Sqns of Mig 3s and they will be attrited by sweeps if I leave them in Vladivostock so pulled them back for special occasions with my best pilots
All of my other fighters need to operate at low level its the only chance I have keep the fights low where my manouver will come into play but over 1/3 of my fighters are off map at present as they are simply useless.
1/3 will try to protect the Soviet Fleet
1/3 are scattered at various bases to avoid my airforce getting crushed by an alpha strike on day 1
should be interesting

Protecting the Soviet Union Box entry point is my number one priority
RE: Ne4w game v Desertwolf
Blocking it is tough, but doable. There are 3 which is the challenge for IJ. and 2 of them are really off the beaten path. Hard to support blocking units ...ORIGINAL: Andy Mac

Pax
And so it begins
jap Subs take a fearsome toll
Despite lots of training I lose fighter 4:1 going to 100 feet CAP to try and pull him low so 100 losses for me v c 25 for him - simply not sustainable my aircraft are not good enough
I am allowed to move LCU's tomorrow and I have a plan but I need to see his axis of attack first

RE: Day 3
More of the same my air power simply cannot compete I dont have enough fighters and no secure resupply either
Its also clear that the rail line will be cut very soon in multiple places
So whats the plan....
If I split the battle into 2 Fronts
Southern Front - Fortress Vladivostock a slow managed retreat to Vladivostock with a large stand at Vorosilev behind forts terrain artillery and massed AA
Every Inf Bde, NKVD Regt and other small inf unit and a couple of Motor Rifle Divs will dig in for the long siege with over 1m supply and plenty of Arty.
Northern Front every Tank or Motrorised Bde I have and most of my Motor Rifle Divs plus all my AF and 50% of Arty oncde I know exactly whats out of the pocket I will list the forces with more accuracy.
The plan is to stabilise in an area where he cannot cut my LOC with a powerfull mechanised and Infantry based force - dig in and hold until January upgrade all my Soviet Rifle Squads then destroy the Japanese - thats the plan......
