German Asien Korps stranded in Aleppo . . .

Post by stockwellpete »

. . . when the Ottomans were knocked out of the war in my latest game against the AI. The AI had to send units up to Aleppo to destroy it. Surely it would have surrendered when the Ottomans did?

I'm just not sure of a way around it, because if we change the engine based rules then such a change would apply everywhere, e.g. to any British, US (and other nations) in France at the time France surrenders.

The solution might be worse than the cure, and I'm also not sure about an improvised (i.e. scripted) removal of any German or AH units when the Ottomans surrender.

This is partly because it would have to apply no matter the circumstances when the Ottomans surrender, i.e. regardless of the strength and numbers of their allies serving there, but also because in real life it might be that these units would have fought on for a while, and cut off from good supply they should be fairly easy to destroy.

What if the German Asien Korps unit was fielded as an Ottoman unit called "German Asien Korps" for game purposes? Likewise, the similar Austrian unit that is raised later in the game. A bit like the Goeben battleship at the start of the game. Would that work?
