A way to delete a model?

Post by Sieppo »

Tried to search the forum and manual to no avail. Made a heavy tank with triple electric engine and seems it still is a bit underpowered for it. Is there any way to delete or scrap model I have no use for?

MNGT - model set to obsolete. They never show up in raise formation again.

Warning: Do not set to obsolete until you have another model to field!
The logistics hell this game is IS the fun part! - Maerchen, 2020

The good thing is, we have all the information in the reports. The bad thing is, we have all the information. Maerchen, 2020

You can not delete a model, only set it to obsolete - wich forces all instance to be send back to the SHQ. Usually you want to go the Low/Tollerated route to phase models out without stripping your whole army of gear.

The models are still needed and thus can not be deleted
- they are used to calculate the costs for new models
- Militia (and I think Rebels) get access to any model that is > 30 turns (5 earth years) old
- within the same line, the previous ones might also be nessesary for the modern ones to still have values.

I wish there was an option to tick 'hide obsolete models' in management->model listing. These can get cluttered, especially categories like machineguns where Quads merge.

There is a checkbox for hiding obsolete models in upper left corner of Model page in Management tab. Unfortunately I can't find any way to actually set a model to obsolete on that page. People say this is where it's done but I can't find any way to do it.

Never mind, found it. I had never fooled with quality before and didn't realize clicking in the column under the quality level would change it for that row.

Be very carefull with the obsolete setting!
It translates to "Disallowed" for every military unit, wich means that existing formations will be stripped of every instance. Too many player literally ruined their military using that option too early.

Generally you first phase the old stuff out, by setting a lower quality and then setting that quality level down to tollerated. Stuff will be transported back to the SHQ, where you can scrap or upgrade the old stuff.

Is there an advantage to obsoleting models?
Or, is it just a management convenience for the player?

Obsolete models are skipped for many screens and you can filter the mode list to exclude them as well.
It also saves you from having to manually set all units to "Disallow".

So the convience is the advantage.

Ah, you know this I did not know, little tidbits like this I assume you get from the manual? I wondered why I was seeing that and how it worked.
