Transfer SU from SHAEF to Corps HQ and units

Post by Hoggorm »

Hello,

Attached to SHAEF are lots of 100% TOE Artillery and Combat engineer units. I'd like to transfer them down to HQs and units, but this is a time consuming process since SHAEF is located near London.

Therefore I tried to ship 12th US Army Group over to England and attach the SUs I wanted to it. However what I do (HQ support is locked) the SUs are returned to SHAEF in the next turn.

Why does this method fail you think?

Is there another fast and easy way to transfer lots of SUs down the chain?

you should be able to attach across the sea to any army or army group (you can't directly send to corps).

So no need to send a well laden HQ, in some circumstances this can cause problems if it demands more capacity than the ports can cope with.

It shouldn't return the HQs but make sure that particular HQ is locked. WiTW has the rather frustrating issue that even if you lock the at-start HQs, new ones arrive unlocked and need to manually sorted out. This has caught me a few times

Yes, I am able to do so, but only one SU at a time. It is very time consuming. What I would like to do, but cannot, is to choose a Corps HQ, Army or Army Group in France/Germany and choose what SU to attach (if you see the difference?)

There is no way to batch transfer in WitW, and if the HQ's are separated by water, you can't do the method of pulling them down one by one that you can when they're on the same piece of land.

I can't ship SHAEF over to France (because it is to large to transfer by ship) and pull then one by one. But then I wonder why I can't ship my Army Group over to London, pull them one-by one there and return to France? I've tried this several times but in the next turn the SU are all back in London at SHAEF...

You shouldn't have to do any of that. If you have an army HQ in France, you should be able to transfer SU's from SHAEF to that army HQ, one by one. They shouldn't be going back to SHAEF if you have Support level set to Locked (-1) for all HQ's. Check the HQ tab in the CR and make sure that's the case.

Yes, but that is a time consuming process. I was hoping there was a quicker way. Thanks anyway =)
