CMBS vs CMSF2

I am looking at Black Sea since a while now. I already owned Combat Mission Shock Force 2. Both are related to modern combats.
Are winning tactics fundamentally different between the two games?

I'm afraid they look too alike.

I have both and they do play differently..............at least that is my experience. I like the idea of having factions that are more evenly matched. There are a lot of interesting options as well given the nations and area of conflict.

Black Sea you face a near peer opponent as Americans. There is also active defense systems used by both sides. The Ukrainian forces are overmatched by Russians but it’s not too great.

Others may disagree with my assessment.

I played lots of Black Sea h2h as well as all other games in series. In Black Seas h2h games Russian players including myself have a fondness for the Tunguska-absolutely devastating against infantry, light vehicles and buildings.

I find Black Sea to be much more deadly and difficult. Punishing might be the right word. The lethality of the weapons systems is immediate and overwhelming. If you play loose and sloppy you will find that terrible things will happen to your forces, and usually in a "suddenly dead" way. It's fun but the peer adversary is significantly different than the opponents in CMSF2. Scouting is really key.
