Italy mobiliization and the DEI

Post by EarlyDoors »

So i started a single player game with me as Allies on 1.9

In April 1940, Axis had captured Netherlands and Belgium. Italy prepared for War. Next turn I saw the attached message. Italy Mobilizes in Response to Allied Invasion Preparations with a Dutch flag background.

The following turn DEI jumps to 99% mobilization in favour of Japan

There has been no diplomacy

I didn't even have many ships within range of Syracuse (maybe 5?)

looks wrong to me

In my single game 1.09 as Axis, DEI has joined Japan, its july 41. No diplomacy.

The message EarlyDoors refers too has been shown serveral times. Weird.

I've just corrected the scripts as they were incorrectly pointing to mobilize the Dutch East Indies rather than Italy.

I can only apologise as I do not know why they were doing so.

However, the conditions for the scripts to fire (see below) require there to either be 2 Allied Amphibious units within 20 hexes of Syracuse Port, or 7 or more Allied naval units (of all types including all types of Transport) within 12 hexes of Syracuse Port. I cannot see how the script could have fired unless one or other of the conditions was met?

; 2 Allied Amphibious units within 20 hexes of Syracuse Port
#CONDITION_POSITION= 104,60 [20,20] [2,2] [2] [0] <47,48>
; 7 or more Allied naval units within 12 hexes of Syracuse Port
#CONDITION_POSITION= 104,60 [12,12] [7,7] [2] [0]

I dont now but i belive that there were allied naval units present in the mediterranean. Played with hidden units.

Question: Will there be posted a patch with the corrected scripts?

Hell, leave it. I'd rather have the Dutch East Indies declare war than Italy because some gamey Allied player harasses Italy to make it declare war to avoid penalties.

So this will be corrected in the next patch then?

Yes, the script mobilizing the DEI has been corrected and hopefully it will be released in an update very soon.

It seems the script that should trigger Italy early is triggering DEI and it doesn't matter if Italy has declared war or not. I just had it happen. So if Allied units come within so many hexes of Italian ports, it triggers DEI to declare war, even if Italy is already at war.

Yup, I had been at war with Italy for half a year when the Italy mobilization popups started [&:]. The problem is more than just pointing at DEI instead of Italy for DOW.

The message mentions Italy, but mobilizes the Dutch East Indies instead.

The message is actually correct to mention Italy, and it was just the country it mobilized that needed to be changed.

What havoc and I are saying is there appears to be two issues - pointing at the wrong country is one. But it is firing after Italy is already at war as well. Might be the same glitch

It's the same glitch, because it is mobilizing the DEI due to the triggers that should have been mobilizing Italy.

The text is correct, it's just the country mobilized that is wrong, and in its corrected format it only fires when Italy isn't yet in the war.

Just to add that the script fires if there are either 2 Allied Amphibious units within 20 hexes of Syracuse Port or 7 or more Allied naval units (including any type of transport) within 12 hexes of Syracuse Port.

This happened to me too- today. Might have ruined a game but we'll see. As allied player, I deliberately kept the Allied naval away from Italy until it was at war- then they moved in to blockade N Africa but DEI came in the war the following turn.
Please fix soon.

I'm keeping the Uk & French Navy out of the central mediterranean until after Japanese invade the DEI - that should stop it triggering ( i hope)

I think the event should be left as it is. It's proving far more effective as a deterrent to triggering early Italian entry and defeat by the Allies than the intended event. :D

Apologies for the delay everyone, good news is the patch is now ready on our end and will be submitted for processing next week.

Ideally it will be released shortly thereafter if all goes well.

Guess the fix will not work for the current games?

Hi Boudi,

Unfortunately no, you'll have to start a new game with the new patch for this particular fix... but the good news is it is in the processing queue so hopefully not too long now before it is released.
