Questions about the Subunit Inspector

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Questions about the Subunit Inspector

Post by Technopiper »

Image

1. Do the numbers before AP, Area, AD and HEAT indicate their effectiveness?
2. Does "Area" mean area effect as in High Explosives?
3. What is "AD"? Area denial?
4. 2200 meters is kind of short for an ATGM. It's 4 hexes in game term. Is that correct?

I apologize if these questions have already been asked. Could you point me to a post explainging these? I did google for them before asking. Thank you!

1 and 2). AP is 15mm of penetration per point. Same for HEAT rounds. AD and Area use the SA value which covers high explosive, blast fragmentation, and small arms fire. Those weapon effects that cover Areas.

3). AD is Air Defense.

4). ATGM ranges vary based on weapon. Each hex is 500 meters.

Most of these items are explained in the game manual and What's New PDFs that can be accessed in the help menu or in the document folder in the game's folder.

80mm S-8 is not an ATGM, it is an unguided rocket.

BTW, a lot of ATGM has range at or short than 2000m. Milan/AT-4/Dragon/AT-7
Sir? Do you want to order a Kung Pao Chicken or a Kung Fu Chicken?

I see now that they are right below the section for "Subunit Inspector". Don't know how I could have missed that! Thank you for your patience. [:)]

You are right. The first thing that came to my mind was the AS-8/AT-6/Shturm. Thanks!

Sorry but this is still unclear to me. What is area, exactly ? It's not in the manual, unless I missed it.
And I can't find the mentioned What's New PDF.

Area fire is small arms and blast damage that has projectiles or fragments doing damage in an area (can cause losses to all units in the target hex). So area is both SA (small arms) and most AD (air defense) attacks.

The new game will be using 10mm resolution for AP and HEAT rounds.

Hope that clears things up. Let me know.
