Land Reclamation

Post by Demonius »

Playing on the new Morgana Planet I kinda first time realized that farms reclaim swamplands as agriculture lands over time. But how is it with forests? I don't think theres a deforestation option yet, or am I missing a technology and never played long enough to get it? Or wouldn't that be a thing that farmers might do, remove forests and heavy forests over time that obstruct their field expansions?

Agriculture transforms everything but ruins, mountains, hills.

The logistics hell this game is IS the fun part! - Maerchen, 2020

The good thing is, we have all the information in the reports. The bad thing is, we have all the information. Maerchen, 2020

Came for SE. Will stay for SE.

Vs forests/jungles it does a check against the defense value of the local flora, which is indicated either during planetgen and reports -> xenobiology

Higher defense value = longer time to terraform to agricultural

eventually, you can have vast regions of just agricultural fields, hills and mountains. it takes time but in some of the long games i've played, i had almost no forest in my core regions, and in major AI regions.

But does it affect rocky, sandy or clay plains as well?

IIRC only regions with more than 0 rain, and the drier they are the longer (on average) it takes to terraform.

Remember, this is RNG empire, where everything is rolled. So normally a farm surrounded by grassy plains has 25% chance to terraform a plains hex each turn...

Something with 1 rain then probably has an additional 1/256 chance of transforming to agricultural hex.
