Whats this all about?

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

Whats this all about?

My interest in UV is dieing down. I like to diverseify my gaming experience so I need a new wargame. This game sounds interesting but I don't know anything about it. Someone sell me on this game.

I have XP so TAO is a no-go. The AAR makes it sound like the Soviets just bulldog their way to victory. Theres not much other dialogue to convince me otherwise. I just found out about this game, whats the deal?

Deep,

probably best to look at the Replays link via:

Wacht am Rhein

Rob and I have been playing a couple of games online for some months and publishing our thoughts on the system. The two games of the same scenario we have played are panning out quite differently btw.

any questions, just fire away, either here or on the WAR page...

Deep breakfast,

I started my online gaming as a player of Close Combat – which of course is continuos time tactical.

I never thought I could enjoy a turn-based game. I then discovered TAO2.

I have played quite a few PBEM games and I have had a great time.

The game is quite simple but underneath it is very complex.

The TAO2 map is quite large and fast units are very mobile. The fighting can be very fluid.

I highly recommend it.

And I too am a UV player.

I must agree with the above posts. The game is very fun and the AI in TAO2 (the previous game)is very tough which increases the replayabilty immensley. This statement may be overused however it applies to this game if no at all, the system is the definition of ease of use, combined with a very deep underlying strategic game (meaning it is very easy to get into and play and the CPU gives you the tools and info to implement your plan with lots of neat features like initial onscreen odds calculations, as well as units being able to drop detachments in a delaying tactic on defense, but to master the strategy part of the game will give you many years (as in my case with TAO and TAO2 ) of fun. Definitely a game to check out. :D

Lots of information starting to build on the game can be found here as said above:
