Resolution Problem
New gaming laptop with a "display resolution" of 1920x1080. Installed the game & updated to the latest official patch, 1126a. Here are the command line switches I'm using: -f -altFont -deepColor -px1600 -py900 -skipVideo -multiaudio -cpu3 The only time I can get the game to run filling the screen is with 1600x900. Anything else & I just get a smaller gamescreen the size of the intro panels. 1600x900 is playable fine (2 minute turns) but the graphics seem messed up laterally. The aircraft pictures look like they've been scrunched up nose to tail compared with running the game on my 10 year old laptop. Any ideas?

RE: Resolution Problem
Win 10 makes it very difficult to run the game full screen. Most of us just live with a window that is most of the screen. The aspect ratio of x to y will change how your graphics look.

Yep. Did all that. Been reading through a lot of the posts on the forum & trying different switches.

In a word - No.
RE: Resolution Problem
You can use the built in Windows 10 Magnifier Program.
Just press "windows" + "+" on your keyboard to open the program.
Then in the Program press the "+" button to zoom in on your screen.
You can move the zoomed in Screen around by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen.
It is not optimal, but it works.
Nether the less if you have trouble reading the map, I would generally recommend to reduce the resolution instead.

Or keep a magnifying glass near the computer - I have one but only have to use it about once every three months.ORIGINAL: Maallon

Maallon - A small correction to the English expression - it starts "Never the less ..."
The word "Nether" means "bottom" or "low down" so it doesn't make sense in the expression. Easy mistake to make because the words sound so similar.

Oh, my bad. Thanks for the Correction! [:D]
Otherwise I would probably have continued to write this wrong.[8|]
RE: Resolution Problem
I am running the game on a laptop with 15.6 inch screen. Screen's native resolution is 1920 x1080.
Here is my switch
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -skipVideo -archive -deepColor -dd_sw -px1600 -py900
The game runs in full screen, zero graphical glitches.
In "Personalize your screen" in Win10, my text, apps size is set to 125%, which is the recommended setting.
I can run the game in 1920 x 1080 resolution in full screen (text and apps set to 100% recommended), but then the game icons and text are too small for me.
Hope it helps.

RE: Resolution Problem
Yeah, I've tried setting the screen to 100% instead of 125% but my older eyes strain to see just like you've said. Back to the original question, I don't know why the horizontal axis is compressed. It's almost unplayable to look at it.

I worked through all of the possible resolutions my monitor and graphics card supported.
Many, like the one you are trying, distorted the hexes and pictures. You have to find the right balance for the monitor.
I am running 1680 x 1050 on a 32" 4k monitor and have good image size ratio.

Uhm, the old one seems stretched horizontally ,while the new one looks fine to me. Can you post a full screen image from your new computer?
RE: Resolution Problem
Here's one screenshot. That B-17 just looks compressed horizontally. Even the hexes look that way.

RE: Resolution Problem
I just measured one of your hexes on each of the opposing sides E-W, SE-NW, NE-SW and they are identical. That means the aspect ratio is perfect and your old one was stretched horizontally.ORIGINAL: Ftroop6

The last two pictures look fine to me.

RE: Resolution Problem
The picture on the left was taken using the release version 1079 on a wide screen monitor, which screeches the display.
The picture on the right was taken using one of the updated versions.
You can tell by the order of lines on the display. The 1079 version did not support side screen displays.

RE: Resolution Problem
I had a similar problem, and I'll share what I did in case it helps others. I typically run at 1920x1080 but for me the game appears too small for me to see it easily.
So for when I play this game, I temporarily change my desktop resolution in Windows to 1360x768. That makes the game appear properly big enough for me to see it.
I changed my shortcut to match that resolution:
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -wd -pxf1360 -pyf768 -deepColor -dd_sw -altFont -skipVideo -archive
Also I changed the Windows task bar settings to tell Windows to hide the Windows task bar, or change the setting so it only appears on another monitor.
Then I also setup a AutoHotkey script to reposition the game window to hide the title bar so the game appears to be full screen but is actually just running windowed.
Here's the steps to set that up:
1) Search for Autohotkey on google and install it. Its free
2) Open notepad and paste this in:
#IfWinActive ahk_exe War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe
+^!L:: ; press Shift+Ctrl+Alt+L to reposition
SetTitleMatchMode, 2
WinGetPos, X, Y, Width, Height, A
WinMove,A,,-7,-32
return
3) Save the file as war.ahk
4) Double click the war.ahk and it should load up in autohotkey automatically. You'll see a little green H appear in your system tray which you can right click on to close it later and so on.
5) When you are playing the the game, press Shift+Ctrl+Alt+L and it'll run the script which will move the window into the correct position -- basically hiding the title bar at the top
