battle and map setup

Post by arethusa »

I'm trying to create an assault/defend PBEM battle and having a problem with creating the maps.

In this case, I wish to be German defending a town in NA against a much larger British force using the NA-Military complex map on page 2 of the supplied maps. (SPWAW v7.0)

When I try it with me as the British attacking, no problem, the VHs are all in the town on the right-hand side of the map. But when I try it as the Germans defending, the VHs all move to left-hand side in the hills. How do I correct this?

Also, for future reference, when creating a map from scratch, how do I place where the green and blue start borders are and how do I position the VHs?

Victory Hexes and Deployment Areas are set through the 'Deploy' screen in the Editor.

arethusa,
For future reference, go to the "Spwaw Thread Hall of Fame" forum, set the date for "from the beginning", go to the last page.
There are a series of articles from Wild Bill Wilder about making scenarios and maps. Very good tutorial, with lots of extra's from some of the "mo betta" designers.
Hope this helps with your endevors.

Thanks very much for the lead bchapman. That's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Now it's just going to take a while to wade through all of it. On to 101#2 now.
